Montana governor attacks creationists on the age of the earth

About six months ago, I posted a blog entry here that blasted a bumper sticker reading "Evolution is just a theory - just like the theory of gravity!".  I went into great length about the sarcastic (and false) nature of the bumper sticker, pointing out how evolutionists are now resorting to mockery attacks to make their point. 

My only responses to the blog entry were from my oldest daughter and wife.  Roxi, my daughter, agreed with me on the basic point of Creation but disagreed on the age of the earth, and stated why.  Of course, I still maintain a "young earth" position that believes that the earth/ whole universe is only about 6010 years old.  I realize we (young earth creationists) are in the minority, even amongst creationists, but it's still what I believe.  I couldn't think of the best way to explain why I believe this way when I made my original post.  I actually have lots of reasons why, and most of them are explained in the above article.  Go read it now if you haven't already.

The one extra point I want to make on the topic is this:  one of the strongest reasons why I am a young earth creationist vs. an old earth creationist is my desire that everyone who believes that God created the universe can defend their positions when attacked or mocked.  I firmly believe that it is more difficult, not less so, to defend Biblical Creation from a old-earth viewpoint rather than taking the Bible at its plain word.  In other words, believing in an old-earth model of origins places a compromising handicap on anyone who tries to defend the creationist position!
